• This rug design was re-created and woven by Bhadohi village weavers in Varanasi, India, using a pattern and weave inspired by Moroccan Berbers. The majority of the weavers are women living in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, creating job opportunities for female artisans who may not have had them otherwise. The community also benefits, as local farmers supply the wool and local artisans produce natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
