Angel Ceron comes from a family with generations of artisan experience. He learned the family ceramic techniques from his father, Antonio Ceron Orta, a renowned artisan. Angel began a long study of Mexico's pre-Hispanic cultures and learned the Nahuatl language spoken in ancient Mesoamerica. He uses clay from northern Oaxaca state, the only clay of this kind in Mexico and perhaps in the world. The unique characteristics of this yellow clay make it ideal for his work.

These Colima dog statues are accurate reproductions of statues I saw in museums in Colima Mexico. I plan to order more from this source (Novica) ASAP. There is a lot of junk out there. I have a smaller version of this, both figures in the lighter brown color. This is bigger, and thus more detail to be seen. I have no idea how faithful this, or my other, reproduction is, but it is acceptable and it's wonderful to behold. I didn't know they were dogs; always looked like bears to me, but now yes, dogs. Mentionable: This was the best packaging I have ever seen in my life. Thank you for that. This may or may not be a gift to someone special; if I find out he would like or love it, then yes - but otherwise, no. Perhaps I'm not the only one reminded of a rather corny but compelling painting, quite famous, of bears dancing in the woods. I like this much more. And that these two Colima Dogs are different colors.
