Story Behind the Art : Named after the historic weaving city of Kashaan in Iran, these rugs are celebrated for their refined craftsmanship and exceptionally tight weave. Kashaan designs feature dense arrangements of arabesques, palmettes, floral stems, rosettes, and leaf motifs organized either in endless allover repeats or in a central-medallion composition framed by corner spandrels. During the 16th century, expert Persian weavers and dyers were relocated to regions of present-day Pakistan and India, where they produced Kashaan-style rugs of such remarkable precision that many rivaled or even surpassed Persian originals. Today, Kashaan rugs remain prized examples of classical Persian artistry.
