I really like the size and proportions of this backpack. I hike , climb, and backpack regularly and having panel access is really nice. At 6'3" it's nice that the pack fits tree length of my back. I don't think that it is overly long by any stretch but it's cool that the hip - belt isn't around my bellybutton like on my Kat pack. I am not a fan of the water bottle nets and find them to be too shallow for standard Nalgenes. I have to clip my bottles to the cinch straps for security (my wife's Approach 30 has the same issue). When the pack arrived one of the zippers was gapped rendering the side panel useless. I had bought it for a trip and already sold my last pack so I contacted Overstock and they gave me the green light to use it anyway and then mail it back when I returned. Meanwhile they dispatched a replacement so that I wouldn't have to wait. Unbelievable customer service. I am definitely a fan. I just wish that Mountainsmith would fix the two issues that I encountered.

  • Great daypack or light overnighter!! well made

I have used mountain smith products for years and this is another example of a their well made products. Excellent design, just the right amount of pockets, great shoulder straps and waist band. I am in a wheelchair now and I use this pack for shopping and can carry a fair amount of weight for its size. I used to be a professional mountain guide and search & rescue and have a used a number of packs over a 30 year period and I highly recommend this pack for its size, quality, and function. This is an excellent "overnighter"size as a light down bag, clothes, stove/pan, water bottles, 10 essentials would easily fit into this pack. RTD

  • Exactly what I wanted

I had previously purchased another bag for bug-out situations, but since then, I have started using that one for school, so I got this to replace it. I'm glad I did, because this one has some extra capacity, and while still offering multiple compartments, it doesn't go overboard. The material is high-quality rip-stop and the adjustment options combined with the strap padding and light weight, make it very comfortable to wear for long periods. The same features that make it suited for my needs would also make it a great weekend or day-trip bag for hikers. The size is just right and there are places for water bottles on either side. There are also two side pockets, a main compartment, an exterior organizer, and a small extra pocket all the way on the outside. In its range, I would say this is one of the best values available.
