The carryon just arrived. It appears to be well made, better than other brands I've seen for the same in retail stores. I bought this because Overstock described the dimensions as: "Exterior dimensions: 22 inches high x 14 inches wide x 9 inches deep, 2 inch expansion." Be warned that this is not accurate. The *stated* dimensions on the card that came with the piece (and my own measurements) confirmed that this is 16 inches wide. While it may seem odd to complain that the dimensions are larger than stated, I wanted a piece that fit the major airline carryon sizes (approximately 22 by 14 by 9).

The Eagle Creek Flashpoint Tarmac is made of a tightly-woven waterproof nylon that makes it look quite different from other trolleys. On my first journey the tarmac had to proof its waterproof qualities on the tarmac (!) of the Bucharest airport in Romania. While we were getting on a small plane for a domestic flight all baggage was lying in the torrential rain. I was happy to have purchased a waterproof trolley then – until I started unpacking my stuff that evening: all my shirts – neatly packed in a pack-it folder – had wet spots! Probably the water had leaked through the spot where the (waterproof) zippers meet. That was a bummer. Otherwise the trolley is a very sturdy and reliable case, that I can easily recommend.

The product seems tough as nails but the zippers are a little difficult to close. We'll see how well it holds up to a 3 week trip. BTW the fabric is not soft its hard and rubbery and seems like a waterproof bag.
