To really make this a sturdy item you'll need a drill. The directions also stop at the bottom drawer - they dont mention how to properly install the top piece or how to then be sure to drill the wooden planks in place - even though all nails are included. Some of the metal parts arrived bent - they are week enough where you can straighten them by hand. The top shelf is wasted space - I wouldn't trust putting anything heavy (or anything at all) up there. All in all, if you patiently go back and check your work and drill the planks in place, you'll have a structure that can house quite a few things (even without the top shelf).
I love this table. Has a whitewash and intentional uneven planks. Paired it with the vintage tabouret stacking chairs for a fabulous modern farmhouse look. Very well made and solid.
