I was a bit skeptical purchasing a refurbished TV and purchased a service plan along with it for peace of mind. We set it up and have been pleased with the quality and found information on line how to fine tune the settings. All that is left is to get it mounted on the wall in stead of on a table. The size if great for our small bedroom and it doesn't look too small. We have had great luck with Vizio tv's in the past and is our 3rd one. We were looking specifically for a thin tv box and this fits the bill being only 2" thick. Too bad the newer model is now 2 3/4" thick. This is why we settled for the 2014 model and not the 2015 model.
With just the DisplayPort Male to HDMI Female Adapter plugged into the Asus Z97-A motherboard I purchased from Overstocked the 48 inch LG flat screen television I purchased from a local pawn shop now has the same sound quality as my 42 inch Vizio flat screen I purchased from aunt. My Lubuntu 16.04 with the Gnome desktop under All Settings - Sound - sees it as HDMI / DisplayPort - GK208 HDMI/DP Audio Controller. And the sound quality seems clear, distinct and with good bass.
