When I received the can opener & took it out of the box my first impressions were great. I loved the look, sleek & tall & I liked that the cord is retractable. I was also impressed that it has a bottle opener & knife sharpener & that both features are incorporated without ruining the streamlined, clean look of the can opener. I've used the can opener several times & I've really appreciated that it's very simple to use. I've opened different sizes of cans from tuna to mandarin oranges to veggies & all opened easily with this opener. The magnet that attaches to the top of the can is strong & it's awesome it flips down instead of standing straight out like older models. I've used hand held manual can openers for several years & was doubtful that I would like having an electric model but I'm pleasantly surprised & can't imagine not having it.
This is a great knife set. It's replacing a few chef knives and steak knives I bought at Target when I moved into my first place alone. Now we get married knives and these are super sharp. There is one thing that annoys me, although it's apparently by design: the scissors come apart, apparently so you can use them as another set of knives, but what happened in reality is that I pulled the scissors out of the block and half of them fell to the floor, barely missing our feet. Careful with these!
I have been using different kinds of knife storage blocks and this block is one of the best, I can fit in different sizes of knives ,it's the right size and it looks so pretty too.
I bought the full set for a few months back and we've been very happy so far. They came in good shape, but after a couple months of use I took these bad jacksons in for a professional sharpening (cost me 20 for the full block) and DAMN they can get a serious edge on there. The Good: -Great price for a full knife set, and including a bread knife was clutch -The clearly Shun inspired handles feel great in the hand -Once sharpened they're very easy to keep honed and working great -The included santoku knife is my favorite knife I've ever used (I'm no pro, but I'd challenge you to find a better performer in this price bracket) The bad: -Block does not have room for the bread knife -The shears are garbage, I just replaced them with a $20 set of Wusthofs -You probably won't find yourself using the utility knives (both serrated and not) a ton, unless everything else is dirty, but hey for the money a couple extra knives never hurt anyone
