We had cushions with a gripper fabric prior to this purchase but found they lost their “umph” quickly and eventually disintegrated. These new cushions remain in place and allow the “sitter” to flip them up if no cushion is needed. Wish they were a little thicker.
I bought the 8 piece sectional as a doorbuster and I am really happy with it. I have it against a wall so I haven't had any issues with the back cushions falling off but they are pretty well weighted nonetheless. Assembly was really eacy - I have an awesome drill and a very extensive bit set so it took me minutes to set it all up. I think it took me longer to break down all the cardboard packaging that they came in and to vaccum everywhere. My only complaint (and I had already considered this when I considered this piece) is that there is nothing to hold them together. They tend to want to slide a bit but I plan to put some rug gripper tape on the bottom of the feet. I might also put a bracket underneath to hold them together but I really like being able to rearrange them quickly. Someone had mentioned using these as a bed. I wouldn't. They are a high density foam and appear that they will hold their shape well but they aren't super soft to sleep on. In fact, if you are using for that purpose, put a mattress pad of some sort and it will also serve to protect it. I have two small dogs so there are always throw blankets protecting my furniture and we will see how it stands up to their epic battles where they chase each other throughout the space. Dog hair comes off easily with a lint roller. Overall - highly satisfied with this purchase.
So far, it seems to work. I'm using it under a 2' x 3' wool area rug with a canvas backing. The felt side (closest to the back of the rug) provides some extra cushioning; the "gripper" side (closest to the floor) seems to adhere pretty well to my hardwood floor.
Best seat cushion for long hours at computer, as it cushions hip bones while it keeps coccyx from the pressure of sitting longer than nature intended us to! I really do recommend this, after trying many others. Well made, but it did tend to slip on the desk chair seat in my office, so I put a piece of no-slip rug pad (the thin, webbed rubber gripper kind) under it, and problem solved.
