I bought the 7.5 gallon aquarium kit, and I thought the price was reasonable. I had been shopping around for a "starter" aquarium for some time, and decided this one would be perfect. The included filter seems to work fine, but I replaced it with another in order to have a less turbulent flow of water to better suit a betta, my intended fish for this tank. I wanted to do a planted aquarium & therefore also upgraded to a better light. The included light is fine otherwise, but not very bright (and certainly not enough to support live plants. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase.
Let me start off by saying I have owned a lot of aquariums (both glass and acrylic) but none have been as stylish and awe inspiring as the look of this aquarium. So for someone just looking at it the item... it is amazing. But, the construction is ultra thin acrylic that scratches very easily compared to harder acrylic aquariums. So for mine, I drilled out the bottom and installed a canister filter with both intake and exit tubes coming from the base. You can not alter the bottom to contain the canister filter, however. Mine is plumbed through the wall to a closet so as not to be visible. You have to be very careful where you drill the holes and also ensure you are very cautious in drilling through brittle and thin acrylic (very thin). But after a year of constant running I have had no issues. I never used the filter or light it came with so I cannot speak to their reliability and quality.
