Like others here, I read through a bunch of reviews and decided it was worth the risk to find out if this mattress would be comfortable to me too. I can say for sure that it is. What I did differently though was I reused the 3" memory foam topper I had on my old mattress, and put it on this new mattress to give it extra softness, which is exactly what I wanted. I would suggest you consider getting help moving the mattress around once it's expanded to it's full loft though. I got this mattress to help with lower back pain I get from sleeping on a terrible old mattress, and I actually strained my back trying to move this new one into the bedroom, and spent the next two weeks using every trick known to mankind to get my back healed. Yes, I can almost hear you now.... the irony! The mattress arrived undamaged, unpacked easily with a box knife, and was ready to sleep on a day later. The smell was there, but by then it had dissipated to the point that I did not noticed it. A non-issue really. I find that I do not get hot on this thing as some people have said about memory foam mattresses in general. I can offer one suggestion, get a good pillow! I used flattened out old pillows before for no particular reason, but decided to treat myself to a Mediflow Original Waterbase Pillow for $XX. Do a search for that pillow, and see if it isn't the most comfy pillow to use on this mattress. I really like the two together, and I now wake up considerably less sore than I used to, and can do my back stretches comfortably after waking each morning. Before this mattress and pillow combo, I would wake up feeling like I went 15 rounds with Mike Tyson, and lost, miserably! I would definitely recommend this mattress, as well as consider the topper and a better pillow to round out the total package.
