This is a "Fashion Bed Group" brand bed made in China. It is very lightweight and far from what I would consider "heirloom quality". The color is accurately described - dark charcoal not true black, with a very shiny finish. The dimensions are correctly described. The steel frame (foundation which holds all the weight of the bed) is made in USA, and is very heavyweight and sturdy It is matte black in color, not matching the head/footboards. The decorative head and footboards are as pictured, but when put together they sit several millimeters off the ground (only the 6-support steel frame is touching the floor) I imagine if you can drill more holes in the metal you could get it to sit right. I believe they are aluminum and not steel and are very easlity dentable. In fact, when my set arrived, the headboard had a horrible dent in the tubing. I asked for a replacement, which I received a week later, but it actually did not have as smooth a finish on parts. I kept it because I needed the bed, and didn't want to wait another week for an additional shipment. I guess if I didn't have an antique iron bed to compare it too, I would say this one's pretty good, but the quality just isn't what I was hoping for for the money. Had I paid around $225, I'd probably give it another star or two. At xxxxxx, I'm just not very satisfied. Also, if you do have a deep mattress and boxspring, beware that it will rise almost to the footboard. I was expecting that, so it doesn't factor into my opinion of the bed.
