I really like these shades. Contrary to some reviews they are not lined, but they are still very dark when closed. Not completely light blocking, but mostly light blocking. We had corded canvas shades before these and they didn't block enough light. It also drove me insane to wrap up a cord everytime I opened and closed them so my three year old was safe. I bought two of these for my dining room because I could try them before I bought them for the rest of the downstairs. They are good quality. One screw's bolt was stripped and we couldn't put it up but we found one in the basement that works. It was annoying but we made it work. So quality of hardware is not great. Once up there was one flaw in the wicker/straw that lets some light in through the middle of one shade, but it's to be expected with the natural material. Don't expect them to be flawless. Overall, I thought the value was exceptional so I did buy five more today for our living room. Can't wait for better light blocking for movie night and seconds of turning them up and down instead of minutes of winding cord. I am not sure I would buy these if I was constantly putting up and down (daily, for example) but I think they will hold up okay for weekly raising/lowering. Really like the look and it's hard to find cordless roman shades at $50 instead of over a hundred.
