First of all, I normally do not write reviews. The only reason I am writing this review is so that others can take the same route I did if their tables arrive damaged. I bought the coffee table and the matching end tables and they took about two weeks to arrive. I put the end tables together first because they were smaller, and noticed a thin crack on one of the legs. However, I just ignored it since it took so long to receive it in the first place. I was satisfied with the color, weight, and quality of the end tables otherwise. I was able to assemble them quickly and easily. When I started to assemble the coffee table, I noticed a gash on the side of the top of the table. I was a bit peeved, but was willing to deal with it because it took so long to arrive in the first place. Then I noticed another big gash on the opposite side of the top of the table (it would be too difficult to conceal both gashes now). I contacted Overstock (an online representative) and told her about the table. She said another table would be shipped to me but I had to return the damaged one by dropping it off at a UPS site. I told her it was too big for me to haul to a pickup site and she said that I would have to pay for direct UPS house pickup. This infuriated me and after some back-and-forth, she arranged for UPS to come directly to my house to pick up the damaged table--at no cost to me. The replacement coffee table arrived a week later and was in perfect condition. Bottom line: decent quality table/end table for the price. It IS solid wood (no particle board, no laminates). It is probably some sort of pine, is somewhat heavy, and is stable enough to withstand moderate use (I wouldn't stand on it, although my 70 lb. son sat on the coffee table and it seemed okay). The color is similar to a cherry stain. Even though I checked the dimensions, the tables (coffee and side tables) are larger than I expected. However, if you receive damaged goods from Overstock, make sure the return is NO inconvenience to you. You didn't pay for damaged goods; therefore, you shouldn't have to go above and beyond to return the damaged goods either. Make sure Overstock treats you fairly. Even though I had to push for it, Overstock did ultimately step up and do the right thing. Good luck.
