This is one of my favorite authors, and I've read several of his earlier books. Being from the same southern regions and growing up going to the same beaches and towns in which his books are set, the stories conjur up a comfortable familiarity in my mind. But this book surprised me when I began to come across what I call "bad words". I almost put it down, feeling betrayed by what I considered his "selling out" to a world in which vulgar language sells books. I kept reading, though, and began to think that this vulgar language was a descriptive part of the world in which he lived. A drunk, abusive father would talk this way, and a family of five boys and no girls would pick it up and use it as easily as any southern girl learns to say please and thank you. So I read on. I enjoyed the stories so eloquently told in a way that kept me looking forward to the next chapter. The author's storehouse of words blows one's mind. I like the comfort of holding the paper back, but not too small, design of the book. The order was shipped out immediately, in time for my upoming trip during which I planned to read it. Overall, I am very pleased with everything I've ever ordered from your company.
