Story Behind the Art:
Tribal bokhara rugs are made by nomads in Pakistan who spendyears weaving each intricate detail into these rugs, specificallyMr. Mehta and his family. The original design of the rug originatedin Turkmenistan. They are made on portable wooden looms typicallywith wool pulled from the tribe's sheep each year. They obtaintheir dyes naturally from local vegetables, flowers, tree bark,minerals, and insects. Graphs, or blueprints for the patterns, areused more often today but true masters create signature designs andcolor combinations showing their skill.
