HERAT ORIENTAL Handmade Chenille Flatweave Rug - 6'6" x 9'6"

These one of a kind flat-weave rugs are hand-tufted in a beautiful design that will enhance any living space. The chenille is woven onto the tufted cotton backing. Such a versatile rug can be used anywhere in your home. The thickness of the rug is 0.25 inches. Colors include gold, blue, purple, green, orange, and red.

Story Behind the Art:
These beautiful flat-weave rugs were created by local villagers in the Judhpur area, located in the Rajasthan province of India. Due to the handmade nature of our rugs, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. Herat Oriental has been providing beautiful, authentic, handmade rugs for over 10 years. We have been given the opportunity to create jobs for over 2,000 local village weavers, which helps them to greatly support their families. The majority of the weavers are women, who live in the villages of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As we grow, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. The community also thrives from rug weaving as the local farmers benefit from wool sales, and the local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.

The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
