Story Behind the Art:

• This rug was made by village weavers in Mahal during the 1960s using the asymmetrical or Persian knot, known for its exceptional softness and flexibility. Natural vegetable dyes are used to give the rug its rich colors. Due to the handmade nature of the rug, the size may vary from the advertised dimensions by 3-4 inches. The majority of the weavers are women who live in villages in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, and India. By supporting this product, we are able to create more jobs for female weavers who otherwise would not have the opportunity to do so. Additionally, the local farmers benefit from wool sales and local artisans create natural and vegetable dyes for the weavers to use in their designs.
