Many rugs produced in Tabriz are attempting to follow the incredible artistry of the Persian Safavid rugs. Tabriz managed to keep these ancient traditions alive, in spite of all the conquering and political restructuring. This particular rug was made by the Turkish speaking village weavers in the Tabriz region. They dye the wool, weave the rug and then took it to the washing and shearing facility before taking it to the market for sale. This rug is considered semi-antique because it was made in the 1960s. This rug is 100-percent wool. The knot count for this rug is 150 and the pile height is 0.25 inches.
