Flora Khotan Hand-knotted Wool Sky Blue Vege Dyed Oriental Rug (6' x 9') - 6' x 9'

Khotan are unique hand knotted rugs that were first created in the ancient city of Khotan (Hotan), which is located in the southern Uygur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang (Chinese Turkistan). Khotan also gained the name Samarkand rugs after the Central Asian trading center. The rug is made of the combination of Chinese details and Center Asian design with Western vivid coloring; however, now the colors look more washed out pastels because of the recent use of vegetable dyes. There has been an influence of using all-silk by earlier Persian carpets; however, the decoration usually consists of lattice designs of clustered rosettes and sometimes use pictorial design. On the wool rugs, similar designs have been used with triple-medallion schemes in blue on red (or vice versa).
