Since assuming this role in 2019, Johnson has positioned Overstock as more than just an e-commerce website - streamlining its widespread merchandising interests into a concentrated, focused strategy dedicated to providing dream homes for all. Johnson is a member of Overstock's board of directors and has been an integral part of the company's growth - from a start-up to publicly traded with over $3 billion in sales and nearly 2,000 employees. Overstock was recognized as one of the nation's top employers in 2021.Since joining Overstock in 2002, Johnson has held various positions within the company, including chairman of the board, executive vice chairman, president, and general counsel. He is also a member of the board of directors of The J.M. Smucker Co, a Fortune 500 and leading consumer packaged goods company. He was chosen for this position due, in part, to his innovative FORWARD plan, (Overstock's remote work structure following the COVID pandemic), and his vast supply chain, marketing, operations, general management, technology, finance, and corporate governance experience.From 2016-2021, Johnson served as president of Medici Ventures, a former Overstock subsidiary which invested in blockchain technology and fintech businesses including tZERO, Bitt, Medici Land Governance, GrainChain, PeerNova, and Voatz. Prior to this role, Nielsen served as Overstock's Chief Sourcing and Operations Officer, where he was responsible for overseeing the sourcing, merchandising, partner and category management, and supply chain teams for the global online home goods leader. Nielsen previously spent six years with Overstock, rising to the position of co-president and leading the company's marketing, merchandising, and supply chain operations. He left Overstock to assume the role of CEO at Global Access, a leading global provider of logistics technology and cross border expertise for brands looking to provide a consistent and trusted shopping experience to both domestic and international customers.Nielsen also held several leadership positions with Payless ShoeSource, Inc., eventually rising to the role of vice president of merchandise allocation, where he was responsible for the assortment planning and allocation of merchandise across 4,500 stores in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. Joanna Burkey was appointed to the board of directors of Overstock in March 2023.Ms. Burkey is currently the Chief Information Security Officer at HP, Inc. and has held a variety of roles throughout her career, primarily focusing on cybersecurity, strategy, engineering, and risk. She has been on the front end of transformational change at leading technology companies in the US and Europe, including HP and Siemens AG.Throughout her career, Ms. Burkey has focused on leading functions and organizations that need turnaround and development to function at their best. This has provided multiple opportunities for Ms. Burkey to refine her strategic leadership skills to recognize unique situations, design appropriate outcomes, and enable the optimal path forward in each individual circumstance.Ms. Burkey is also a publicly recognized thought leader. She was named one of the Top Global CISOs of 2022 by Cyber Defense Awards and has been published in multiple articles as well as the book Tribe of Hackers: Security Leaders. She has a Computer Science and Mathematics background from both Angelo State University and the University of Texas Austin.
