Have you ever thought about using tile wall coverings to decorate an accent wall? Tiling an accent wall allows you to create designs and patterns right on your wall. You can create a real sense of personalization and customization on any wall with your own tile wall coverings. In fact, if you tile the wall yourself, you will be saving hundreds of dollars in money that you would otherwise be paying someone else.
Lay out the tiles that you are planning to use to make sure they will fit in the given area.
Spread the adhesive over the area where you want to put the tiles. Use the notched trowel or notched spreader to spread the adhesive over this area.
Gently set one tile into place. Be careful to not move it around too much once you have set the tile in place.
Put spacers around the tile. Then place more tiles around it.
Keep repeating step four until the entire area is done. Make sure that you place each tile precisely into place and do not forget to use tile spacers.
Use a leveling board and a hammer to level out the tiles. This is done by placing the leveling board on top of the tiles and then gently tapping it with the hammer.
Let the adhesive dry. Once it has dried, mix the grout.
Spread the grout on top of the newly placed tiles with a grout spatula.
Make sure that you fill all the crevasses evenly. Do not worry about getting the grout on the actual tile.
Wipe off any excess grout that got on the tile and let the grout dry. If there are any areas that need to be touched up, do so.
Be careful of broken tile because it can cut your hands or your fingers.
