With their traditional French design and grand presence, it is no wonder that furniture armoires are becoming such a popular addition to homes everywhere. No matter what room in your home could use a boost, there are furniture armoires of every shape, size and function that will fit. Whether you are looking for a TV armoire, computer armoire, jewelry armoires or some bedroom armoires, there are furniture armoires for everything. No matter what type of armoire you have, chances are it is something you'll want in your home for a long time. With some simple maintenance, armoires can last a very long time. Here are some ideas on how to keep your armoire furniture in tiptop condition for years to come.

Furniture Armoire Maintenance:

  1. Dust it. The most common damage done to armoire furniture, or any wood furniture for the matter, is dust buildup. Chances are your armoires don't get out much, so it's up to you to keep them dust-free. Frequently dust furniture armoires with a conventional duster. On top of regular dusting, wipe down your armoire with a soft, moistened cloth. The cloth picks up more dust and keeps furniture armoires polished. Be careful not to get the cloth too wet, as water can damage the wood of furniture armoires. If they get wet, make sure to dry your armoires immediately. Leaving dust unattended can result in the wooden surface getting scratched.

  2. Polish it. Adding a polished finish to furniture armoires will help extend the life of the wood. If you have armoires, such as TV armoires or computer armoires, with items stacked on shelves, make sure to remove the items before polishing so you don't miss a spot. Also, be sure you polish armoire furniture with the same product each time. If you switch between oil-based and wax-based polishes, you could leave streaks on your furniture armoire.

  3. Limit sunlight exposure. The quickest way to age an armoire is to leave it under direct sunlight for long periods of time. If possible, place furniture armoires in areas of the room that won't be exposed to sunlight. Too much sun can dry out the wood of armoire furniture.
