How to Tie a Lariat Necklace
Tying a Lariat Necklace:
Follow the Necklace
Many lariat necklaces are made with a specific tying method in mind. These necklaces often have a geometric pendant to pull the chain through or a sliding clasp. Most lariat necklaces can be tied in many different ways. If you decide to branch out, try the knot-in-front tie or loop tie for something new.
Knot in Front
Lariat necklaces tied with a simple knot in front are classic and elegant. Try this look with a formal black dress or dressy business suit. Place the necklace around your neck, with the ends draping across your chest. Place both strands of the necklace in one hand. Make a loop with both strands of the necklace. Pull the ends of the necklace through the loop to knot the necklace in front. The knot ends of the necklace should resemble the ends of a bolo tie.
The loop style is great for long necklaces and creates a dramatic heavy-metal style. Try the lariat loop with jeans and leather or a curve-hugging cocktail dress. Fold the necklace in half, with the two necklace strands draping parallel to each other. Wrap the folded necklace around your neck. The ends of the necklace should face front, as should the loop on the opposite end. Pick up the ends of the necklace and feed them through loop to fasten the necklace.
Lariat Necklace Tip:
Add a pendant to your lariat necklace to personalize the jewelry. You can string a pendant onto the necklace before you tie it or attach it with a clasp or clip.
