Story Behind the Art:
These beautiful tapestries are one of the traditional art pieces created by the Chinese minority Miao people who live in the Southwestern part of China. In this region of China there are many high mountains and historically it has been isolated, hence the Miao people have developed their own unique art and culture separate from the Chinese majority, known as Han. Wax-dyed tapestry is one of the well-known crafts to come from this. The patterns and methodology used in creating these tapestries has been passed down from generation to generation. Each artist adds their own unique touch to these patterns, making every tapestry different. Selling through Worldstock allows the Miao people to keep this ancient art form alive.
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
