The modern Afro pick is based on traditional wooden, bone and ivory combs made and used in Africa during centuries past. Far more than a utilitarian object, African combs were symbolic treasures that held special meaning for their owners.

Product Features:
  • Colors: Natural
  • Materials: Jacaranda wood, metal
  • Dimensions: 6 inches long x 3.75 inches wide x 11 inches high

Story Behind the Art:
The African Heritage is a name tourists visiting Nairobi in decades past will well recognize. The expansive Pan African gallery hosted an incomparable collection of African art from the collection of owners Joseph Murumbi (Kenya's second vice president) and his wife Sheila. The gallery was also founded by Alan Donovan, whose passion for the traditional cultures of Africa and the handicraft sector helped shape the ongoing operations of African Heritage. The founders of African Heritage exhibited a wealth of African culture and art in the gallery and shops, and can well be credited with contributing greatly to the current enthusiasm felt worldwide for African art and decor.
