    Story Behind the Art:
In 1990 George Asante settled in the Akuapim hills to begin training as a carver. By the time he graduated, Asante had become the real artist he always knew he was. Four years of careful training had not been undertaken for common standards. Not only did Asante's background knowledge of woodwork help him, but an inbred acumen contrived to bring to the surface a talented carver. He believes in the strengths and aesthetic values of the woods that he and other colleagues transform into works of art. For good reason, he works out many different forms from these materials -- sese wood, cedar wood and tweneboa wood in particular.
