This handmade creation is offered in partnership with NOVICA, in association with National Geographic.

Standing on three jaguar heads, this handcrafted ceramic vessel honors El Salvador's Maya culture. 'This is a replica from the Pipil Maya, and we used the same ceramic techniques they develop over a thousand years ago,' explains Oscar Rodolfo Mendoza.

    Product Features:
    • Colors: Red, brown, black, yellow
    • Materials: Ceramic
    • For decorative use only
    • Not watertight
    • Dimensions: 5.5 inches high x 5.5 inches wide x 5.5 inches deep

    Story Behind the Art:
Oscar Rodolfo Mendoza says, 'I'm strongly attracted to the Maya culture and pre-Hispanic ceramics. It would be a shame if this tradition were lost, so we teach new artists the ancient techniques. We craft objects that are linked to history and the ancient Maya culture, one of the most important in the history of humanity. Despite the centuries, ours is a culture that is still alive.'

This vessel is outstanding. Very well made and the picture does not give enough detail on the intricate hand painted drawings of the Mayan designs that are the very reason that I made this purchase. Very pleased .
