Add a touch of old world charm to your decor with our Ashanti Bowl. Hand-carved in Ghana from Sesse wood, this bowl is an all purpose storage bowl. Ashanti bowls are used in Ghana to store dry products, fruits and more. The bow boasts a colorful design with rich tones in white, black and red.

Story Behind the Art:
Akwasi Agyeman was born into a family of 12 children in the small tribal village of Foase in Ghana, West Africa. The family was so poor that Akwasi was limited to only a 7th grade education in order to help his father farm to feed the family. In 7th grade his teacher asked each of them to make something for art class. Akwasi produced a Fertility Doll as his project and amazed the teacher. Akwasi knew then he had a natural talent for carving. After ten years and with the help of Fair trade Akwasi is now married with two handsome boys. He employs 15 people and has built a small three bedroom house for his family. Akwasi and his fellow artisans hope you enjoy their work.

Was expecting the bowl to be brown as pictured, but it was black and matted and not glossey but I still love it. The quality and size was also very good and larger than I expected. I would recommend this to anyone it goes well in my living room

Got exactly what I wanted. A rustic wood bowl, nicely painted. My computer showed the bowl to be shiny, almost polished. It's more of flat paint type finish. As long as you don't mind a matte finish, it's a nice decor item. Looks great on my bookshelf. Love Worldstock and the opportunity to support cottage industries.
