The lid on our china sugar bowl had been broken several times (we keep a spoon in it) and when I saw this, after much researching, I said "Wow!" this would be perfect and it is. The lid fits smoothly over the little spoon so the sugar stays protected. It has a lovely smooth finish, is compact and a neutral color. It looks right at home on our kitchen counter with our light colored cabinets. I like the fact that it was handcrafted and think about the artisan in Guatemala who crafted it.

I purchased this sugar bowl when my cat kept knocking my china ones off the counter and breaking them. This is much better! It also has a cut-out for the spoon - nice touch. I purchased a second one for a gift when my girl-friend said she liked mine so much.

After viewing hundreds of sugar bowls online, this is the only one that warranted a second glance. It is so beautiful and unique and would be worth having for the aesthetic appeal alone.

  • Awesome Find!

My husband was looking for a sugar bowl, but we could not find one we liked online or in stores. After a long search, we found the wooden sugar bowl on Overstock and purchased the salt and pepper tower to match. Although we have a more traditional style kitchen, both pieces add character as well as functionality. Althoug the serving spoon is small, it still gets the job done. I mostly use sugar to sweeten my coffee, so I find it to be the perfect size. In addition, the bowl itself holds a lot of sugar and the mouth of the container is big enough for a teaspoon or tablespoon to fit if you require a greater amount for cooking/baking.
