These tights were advertised as a midweight or medium weight product, but I would have to disagree. They are pretty thin-- feel like unlined spandex. They are comfortable and stretch a lot both throughout the body and in the waist band. I wear a size 6 but ordered the medium-- they'll be fine, but probably should have ordered the small. These have a pretty smooth profile and would be good for someone who needs lightweight thermal bottoms underneath their normal clothes or work uniform as I do. Definately a lot less bulk than my merino wool bottoms, but then they don't seem as warm or as wind resistant. Another good thing about these bottoms is that they don't have underwear-like crotch seaming, so you can probably get away with wearing them as a running tight and no one would look at you funny. So, for versatility, smooth/low profile styling, comfort, and affordable price, consider these thermals-- just don't expect them to be super warm!
The size runs somewhat larger than actual size ordered. That is okay because it is a better fit if you layer up. The insulation could be a bit thicker for more warmth but like I mentioned before, you will probably where these snow bibs over fleece pants or jeans.
I can't speak highly enough of Minus 33's 100% merino wool clothing! After scouring hundreds of online reviews, I purchased this Minus33 Women's 'Sequoia' Merino Wool Mid-weight Zip Neck Base Layer Top in black with the intention of thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. This turned out to be my Sleeping In Shirt when nights were below freezing and my Wear In Town Shirt because it looks so darned nice. Unless you try it, you just won't be able to believe how lovely this shirt is! The knit is fine and smooth and only barely feels like a sweater. It's so soft; not a single itch or scratch! What they say about Merino wool is true ... it does not hold body stink like synthetics do! The seams are all well made and comfortable. Never had any problems with the zipper. The sleeves are slightly on the long side but then I'm short and the sleeves served well to pull down over my hands somewhat when I didn't quite need gloves. This is NOT a heavy shirt! It's supremely lightweight. Machine wash and dry, too! (I was always sure to never dry hot) AND they have really big sizes! Just can't say enough good things about it! This is a hands down winner for me. It's going to last me forever, too!
