Beautiful wooden set at a very reasonable price! The shape is elegant and I like that it's raised in height. There are two drawers on each side to store chess and checkers pieces. The drawers are lined with felt to protect them. The pieces look hand carved. I particularly like the darker pieces and the base of the set as the wood is beautifully stained and has pretty light gold highlights in it. Would definitely recommend this set for an avid chess player.

Octagonal Chess Game is Smaller Than Expected
I was a bit disappointed in the size of the board. I thought it would be larger. The quality seems good and I am glad there are compartments for the game pieces. I like the unusual octagonal shape, it makes it somewhat unique. This was a Christmas gift and the recipient seemed happy with it. However, I would recommend this item as a "starter" board for someone who has never played chess. An experienced player would be better satisfied choosing a larger board.

I purchased this chess set for my grandsons. It was to our delight that it included checkers ( probably mentioned in the description, but over looked on my end). The boys loved it but my daughter loved it even more. She isn't in to a bunch of toys cluttering up the rooms and this chess board is an item that will sit out in their home. It has a very rich wood texture and is more on the grayish brown side. The storage drawers work very soothly and the chess pieces are not light cheap pieces. I am very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it.

Great gift for kids the draws attach makes it easy to keep up with the pieces.My kidds love this.

It's ok - as described - but the wood is lighter than expected, kind of reminds me of that 70's type laminate or paneling on the top of it.

This item was too small, I gave it to my grandchildren. I originally ordered it to replace pieces that I needed for my adult chess set. The quality was okay, it was just too small.
