Beautiful wooden set at a very reasonable price! The shape is elegant and I like that it's raised in height. There are two drawers on each side to store chess and checkers pieces. The drawers are lined with felt to protect them. The pieces look hand carved. I particularly like the darker pieces and the base of the set as the wood is beautifully stained and has pretty light gold highlights in it. Would definitely recommend this set for an avid chess player.

I was a bit disappointed in the size of the board. I thought it would be larger. The quality seems good and I am glad there are compartments for the game pieces. I like the unusual octagonal shape, it makes it somewhat unique. This was a Christmas gift and the recipient seemed happy with it. However, I would recommend this item as a "starter" board for someone who has never played chess. An experienced player would be better satisfied choosing a larger board.

I purchased this chess set for my grandsons. It was to our delight that it included checkers ( probably mentioned in the description, but over looked on my end). The boys loved it but my daughter loved it even more. She isn't in to a bunch of toys cluttering up the rooms and this chess board is an item that will sit out in their home. It has a very rich wood texture and is more on the grayish brown side. The storage drawers work very soothly and the chess pieces are not light cheap pieces. I am very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it.

My two sons have gotten into playing chess and we had this old board that was falling apart and didn't have any storage for the pieces. They have been leaving it on the kitchen island to play after dinner so I wanted something that I could stand to look at :) This is a very nice set, well made and stores all of the pieces nicely. The only complaint that my kids have is that they wish the pieces were bigger. Other than that a great set. Thanks again overstock!!!

This is a very nice chess board and well crafted. It's my fault that I fell to read the description so I totally overlook the size of it. It's smaller than I expected. However, it makes for easy storage. I would love to have one exactly like it, but larger board and pieces.

I bought this set for my boyfriend's birthday gift and he loved it. Very surprised at the storage room but all pieces fit nicely in the 2 drawers. He couldn't believe the quality of the board too......

It's ok - as described - but the wood is lighter than expected, kind of reminds me of that 70's type laminate or paneling on the top of it.

This item was too small, I gave it to my grandchildren. I originally ordered it to replace pieces that I needed for my adult chess set. The quality was okay, it was just too small.

Looks nice and good size but the quality wasn’t as good as expected for the price. The wood was glued together without much exactness ans the corners didn’t line up flush on the corners. It is fine but the quality workmanship is kinda shotty. Not one I would have out for display at this point.

Nice idea, but glue marks scattered on top due to someone at the factory was careless and one of the drawers is hard to open and close, other than that we love this chessboard set.
