  • Get tuned up.
    Verified Purchase

I was very excited to take the bike out of the box and ride. That's not what happened. First of all the rear tube had a hole in it, so I had to buy one the next morning to even get the bike assembled. I'm sure I could have sent it back but didn't want to wait two weeks. After that issue was fixed, I had a really hard time adjusting the gears and brakes. They were so far off that the bike was almost not rideable. After a few hours of YouTube videos I now have it working fairly well. Still needs a tuneup but not as bad. You would be much better off to take the unassembeled bike still in the box to the local bike shop ans have them set it up. Overall pretty happy with the bike, I just wish I knew what it was going to take to get it going. About 50 miles on it and no defects so far.

  • Great bike
    Verified Purchase

I looked everywhere for a bike before buying this one and i haven't regretted it yet. I needed a bike to ride to class and recreational biking for est. 20 miles and it works great. Plus it looks cool, I've got so many compliments about how nice it looks and knowing I spent way under retail for it - makes this bike even sweeter. The only suggestion for potential buyers it to have the bike tuned up / fit professional (local bike store), because suddenly jumping on a bike after 5 years does not do the body any good! Good luck shopping!

  • DON'T BUY THIS UNSAFE CHEAPLY MADE BIKE
    Verified Purchase

We purchased this bike for our sons Birthday and it was nothing but trouble from the moment it arrived. Our son was so excited when we brought the bike out during his Birthday party and couldn't wait to ride it, he got on the bike and rode it in our cul de sac to practice, then my husband hopped on his own bike and off they went through our neighborhood for what was to be a ten minute test run during his party. After 30 minutes of us all waiting for them to return my Brother decided to go out and see if something had perhaps gone wrong, after another twenty minutes he returned with my husband and son and both bikes in the back of his SUV. The chain on the new bike kept popping off and hanging loosely, at one point causing my son to get caught in the loose chain and fall face first off the bike. The reason it was taking them so long to return is due to the fact that after a number of attempts to reattach the chain and it failing time and time again, my son was terribly injured and they ended up having to walk back, my son in tears with a bloody nose, lip and chipped tooth and my husband standing between two bikes attempting to carrying them both back. I should mention our son is ten years old so leaving him alone a few streets down is not an option. We then took the bike to Pedgo in Carlsbad, CA, where we live. They are a reputable and lovely family owned business here in the Village of Carlsbad. They have been in business for over twenty years and are the go to bike company in the area. They were extremely kind and very honest. They could not believe we were charged close to *** dollars for a bike that they stated came assembled with missing components, cheap parts, and poor workmanship. They took the entire chain, gear and breaking system apart and luckily took photographs during the process. Because they are family owned and know us, they gave us a huge discount and did not charge us a single time for the labor but only the parts that were required to repair the bike and make certain it would be safe, chain gears smoothly, break properly etc. After all was said and done the total came to *** dollars and change for all the parts that needed replacing. So we essentially bought a *** bike, spent another *** for a grand total of over ***. This does not include the stitches our son needed for his lip, nor his other superficial injuries and his ruined Birthday party. He took the incident well as he is a positive young man and was happy to have a great party, but we as parents were fuming about the entire experience. What should have been a happy day and moment was tarnished by cheap parts and very poor craftsmanship. The bike runs great now since *** replaced the cheap components and tires but that really isn't what a consumer hopes for when purchasing a brand new item is it. A word to all parents...DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, IT IS UNSAFE, POORLY MADE AND WILL COST YOU DOUBLE IN REPAIRS FROM THE MOMENT IT ARRIVES. TAKE THE EXTRA *** AND BUY A *** BIKE. WE WON'T EVEN RESELL THIS BIKE AT A GARAGE SALE FOR FEAR SOMETHING MAY GO WRONG AND SOME POOR UNSUSPECTING PERSON WOULD GET HURT. WE TRIED GETTING A REFUND BUT NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY FROM OVERSTOCK OR THE MANUFACTURER AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT THEM. WE HAVE NOT SHOPPED AT OVERSTOCK SINCE THIS INCIDENT AS WE ARE CONCERNED WITH THE OVERALL QUALITY OF THE ITEMS THEY SELL. I SUPPOSE THE ITEMS ON THIS SITE ARE DISCOUNTED FOR A REASON, HOWEVER I NEVER IMAGINED A COMPANY WOULD SELL SOMETHING THAT COULD HARM SOMEONE. SHAME ON YOU OVERSTOCK.

  • Good bike for the money
    Verified Purchase

This is a good bike for the money...that is once you get over the fact that it's not exactly as described. The fact that these are not 700cc wheels is my biggest issue with this post. Thankfully I looked up the bike on other websites and realized this. Eventually I decided to make the purchase anyway. Bike came in less than adequate packaging however. Both wheels had significant lateral movement. There was also some play in the crankset (huge problem if not addressed immediately). The wheels themselves felt cheap, there were no yellow decals, and the tires left me wishing for more. After taking it to a shop and dropping ** they were able to straighten it out and tune the bike. It rides very well and is definitely worth the price especially when compared to similar priced bikes at Target or Walmart. Just keep your expectations in check, aside form trigger shifters there is nothing 'elite' about this bike.

  • Great Bike
    Verified Purchase

My wife bought this for me. I have been riding a bike to and from work weather permitting for the past seven years. This is a great bike and rides very nice. Assembly was not as easy as they say it is. I had a hard time with the front breaks, they kept rubbing then I changed the way they had the wires hooked up. That seemed to stop the rubbing. This was one of the best gifts I have gotten. I love it!

  • Important-THIS IS A ROAD BIKE
    Verified Purchase

I needed an inexpensive mountain bike that would fit my 6'2" frame. I am 225 pounds. I thought this bike would be good b/c it looks like a solid mountain bike in the picture. UNFORTUNATELY, i was not able to zoom in on the tires. The tires are ROAD bike tires not MOUNTAIN bike tires. The description is inaccurate. If you need a good starter road bike, this is a solid purchase. If you are looking for a mountain bike.....LOOK ELSEWHERE. Thankfully, I have a teenage kid that needs a good road bike. He just received an early birthday present from dad! Overstock wanted to charge me $XX to return the bike.....simply ridiculous!!!
