Installed this bicycle rack on my pop-up camper. Rack looks great and holds the bikes very securely (I used it for two adult bikes, one mid-size bike, and one small bike). My only complaint is that the mounting hardware (nuts, bolts, etc.) are zinc-plated steel which will eventually rust (stainless steel hardware would have been much better). I saved hundreds of dollars since other racks are much more expensive. I plan to replace the steel hardware with stainless which should make this product last a lifetime.

    • They carry my bikes just fine. Resist the urge to overtighten the coupling to your bike frame or you'll strip a plastic sprocket inside. Not bad for the price.

I'm on my third season with these upright racks. They aren't as stable as the Thule, Yakima, Saris, and other name brand upright racks, but they have never failed me in use. The wheel straps wore out after one season and the rubber pieces that are in contact with the down tube have fallen out , but I rigged up replacements. I'm actually back on overstock.com to buy an additional pair, three years later. I still use the original uprights, but these will be to replace my standard bike trays where I need to remove the front wheel--secretly I'm also going to try to rig them up to carry a tandem, but I don't think that the upright bars will offer enough lateral support. I use the racks for my mtb and my road bike. I am mindful of keeping the nuts that hold the upright bars on the tray snug to reduce the lateral movements. For the budget minded, this is a great way to go. And the idea that they come with locks is great because with other brands you need to buy them in addition to their $200 for a single upright.

I bought this product for the price. A good value at the stated retail price, but couldn't pass up the clearance price. Right away upon opening, I was impressed with the effecient and careful packing. No scratches, dings, or damage. I found the instructions straightforward and easy to follow. All parts and hardware were present, and *** even includes a number of extra bolts, nuts, and washers (which is good becasue I inevitably drop ONE, and it ALWAYS rolls under the cabinet). The parts fit together very well. The trays are easily sized to fit a variety of cross bar sizes, shapes, and widths. This is my first roof rack that accepts fully assembled bikes, and I am very excited to test it out!! As with most assembly required products, the first one took about 45 minutes to assemble, including unpacking, finding parts, following the instructions, and mounting on my roof rack. The second one took about 30 minutes (including adjustments to the first tray which was already installed), and the third and fourth ones (I bought two of these products) each took about 5 minutes to assemble and about 5 minutes to install. Altogether about 90 minutes for 4 complete trays. I would make one recommendation to buyers which is not in the instructions: Completely assemble the trays and uprights, but only tighten the bolts enough to hold them sungly together (but still loose enough to slide the parts). When you go to mount them on your roof rack, this will make adjustments much quicker and easier. After you have each tray positioned and sized the way you want it on your roof rack, then tighten all the nuts and bolts. I would buy these again without hesitation, and probably will buy two more so that we can haul 6 bikes. I will try to revise my review once I have road tested it.

So I own a subaru wagon with cross bars already on the car. I used to have a rack just like this setup and I loved it. But they are expensive!! to put one on the car would have run about 400$ which I do not have. So I bought this instead. I have say that for the price you can;t beat it. the quality is not as high for sure, and the lock and knob you use to tighten down on the frame seems kind of chincy but it works fine. I would not leave my bike on top of my car with out another lock on it over night anywhere sketchy. As far as it being easy to assemble that part is true the directions are not explained super well but you get the idea. I realized a couple mistakes i made but they are easy to fix. Once you get it all set up right it seems pretty bomber... just as strong as my old rack. One thing i would tell people to invest in though would be some rattler straps. they cost 60$ for the four you will need but they are worth it! the cam straps that come with the rack as your "wheel tie downs" are kind of lame and hard to get nice and tight. I would say if you plan to drive no further than 10 miles to the trails fine you don't need them but if you plan on going on the highway or anywhere far these things are what you need! so over all a good rack for the $. . good deal. good product!.. except for the cam straps those are not so great! i gave this product 5 stars based on the price i paid for the two racks. you can't find a better deal. i used to have a rear rack and this is a lot nicer.

We are recreational family bikers and use these for transporting our bikes to and from the bike paths. They were easy to assemble and install. Using them is easy as long as you can left the bike to the roof. Putting a large bike on the roof like this makes the vehicle quite high. The clamps that are tightened onto the bike work well for bikes with round frame tubes. If your bikes have really wide oval tubes like one of the **** Women's model you won't be able to use it. All in all these have made transporting our bikes easier.

Couldn't be happier with this. My snowboard rack and cross bars are Yakima (round) and I've been really happy with them over the years. When I got a mountain, my loyalty was to Yakima when it came to shopping for a bike attachment but the price was in a different stratosphere. When I saw this rack on Overstock, I thought it had to be a typo when I read that it was for a two-pack. This fits perfectly on my Yakima bars and feels sturdy and solid. If I were to nitpick, it's worth a very minor mention to say that the lock cores feel a bit cheap and loose but it doesn't seem to effect their functionality. I've seen many roof racks that are more expensive than this one and only carry one bike. To get two sets of trays for this price is an absolute steal. I've driven on roads with 75 mph speed limits with two bikes on my roof without any problems at all.

For this price, you won't find a better deal. Thule and Yakima want to charge you 200 bucks for ONE upright bike mount. These mounts are very sturdy and aerodynamic if you put them on right. The bikes are slightly wobbly on top unless you tighten the screw really hard, which isnt too difficult, just a lot of twisting. These are SO much more conveniant than the fork mounts because lets face it, who wants to take off their front tire every time they go riding? So far I have put about 7 or 8 different bikes and I haven't found a bike that didn't fit. Only downside is they take up a lot of precious room up top, I wish there was a way to disconnect the swinging arm that holds the bike in place. I can fit 3 onto my 06 Honda Civic along with the little surf stubs placed strategically in the middle. All around great value, you won't find anything cheaper.

The reviews on here pretty much sum it up well. Its not super sturdy and I question it's long term durability, but if you don't use it all the time, like me, it does the job very well. I had an issue with the clamp in that it didn't fit well around my mountain bike frame. The frame on my bike was more flat and wide instead of round so the clamps were not as secure as i would have liked. I used a few bungie cords for extra security. Probably not neccessary, but I did it for piece of mind. Install was a breeze with one monor discrepency in the pictures. The one picture doesn't really show which hole you should use when connecting the pieces together, before putting it on your roof rack. I realized the error after putting the first one togther and mounting it on the roof rack. It worked fine, but the next time I use it, i will take it apart and line it up correctly. Basically the front wheel of the bike was very close to the end of the bar it sits in. the second one, assembled correctly, fit perfect. The picture makes yout think you need to put it together one hole closer to the end that you should. The picture is basically missing one of the holes. Its not a huge deal, but if you want it perfect, watch out for that instruction discrepency. You certainly will not be able to find a better deal elsewhere. BTW, I installed this on a 2009 RAV4.

Ok when you buy a rack this cheap you expect to get what this company sends. That being said I bought two and they have securely held my bikes on the van roof. A bit of a heads up the key hole side of the main connection can be flipped around so you can see what your doing.

I've owned this rack for over 3 years. We actively used it for about 1 1/2, then it started to seem flimsy. We used it a lot, though, and it worked well. Took some very expensive bikes on long drives w/o worrying about them. However, if you're wanting to make a one-time investment in a bike rack, keep looking. If you're just getting into cycling and don't want to spend a ton of money on a new hobby, this is for you. Note to short people, though, you'll need a step or a tall friend to help you get your bikes up. I'm 5'3" and couldn't mount them alone.

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical because of the cheap price. However these bike racks have been great! I have about 20 hours on the road with these and they have performed well. I am waiting to see about durability and how long the plastic pieces will last. Heck you could buy three of these for the price of one Thule or Yakima rack.

These have been great to hold bikes on my car. Was nervous at first to use them, was afraid the bikes might fall off as I was going up to the mountains, but that never happened. They stayed on, the racks stayed on and secured the bikes very well.

They had the very best price on Overstock. I found the racks easy to install. I did some trial and error adjustments but found the original setup was the best. To me the bikes seem very secure. Much more expensive racks for sure look more secure but the Swagman racks seem fine for our short trips going about 45 mph.
