i had a 10lb weight vest that got used by my sons for running. i stopped using it because um YUCK (sweat). it looked like a bullet proof vest and it was starting to fray a bit. when i saw this vest it had so much less body coverage yet it was 2lbs heavier. i loved the way it fit and the material. it's very flexible and it feels like neoprene. the extra 2lbs really makes a difference too! i've only used it for walking so far, so i don't know how comfortable running in it would be. the strap across the chest might be irritating because it's necessary to have it tight to keep from slipping. i plan on using it for stairs and squats also so it shouldn't be a problem for me.
I bought the Definity 20-lb workout bar about a week ago. I have used it several times. This is a high quality weighted exercise bar. The end caps are hard rubber and the bar is padded. My hands are a little arthritic and the padding is thick and really comfortable. The bar is about 51 1/2 feet long and the circumference of the bar is 5 1/2 inches. I picked this weighted bar so I could do different kinds of exercises and not just tone my arms. There are many You-Tube video's, but my favorite is called "The 8 Body Bar Exercises for women", being I'm a woman. Of course you don't have to be a man to use this bar or watch the video. The only con is you can't change the weight of the bar. Since the main reason I got this bar was for the padding it suits my needs perfectly. I will be buying more Definity exercise weighted bars in the future as my need for different weights change.
This is a great value considering how many pieces you actually get! The entire thing came stuffed into one relatively small 100 pound box so be sure you have help carrying it inside. The plates are pretty thick and needed to be dusted off but they are just fine. The bar has to screwed together. The two ends connect to the smooth center bar. I have to check them often as it seems that they don't stay tight. The screw on type of clamp is a bit of a hassle. I actually purchased a set of the squeeze on clamps to use instead for just $2 a piece at a fitness store. The bar is lightweight and I wouldn't feel comfortable loading it with too much weight as I think it may bend at the seams, but it is perfect for lighter weight workouts.I ordered a couple and then ordered a couple more for my training business. For the price, it's tough to beat.
I bought these specifically for P90X and I am entering week 5 so I thought I would review these specifically for that program. These are the cheapest adjustable dumbells you can buy anywhere. Use a 10% coupon. I think I got mine for ****. delivered. Can't beat that. Came in two boxes, everything shipped well. These dumbells are adequate for P90X however the program requires you to adjust weight quite a bit on some of the sessions and the adjustment of the dumbells take longer than the program allows. You will be hitting the pause button at times. However the adjustment (which has to be done on both ends of the dumbbell) is easy and fluid. Returning the weights can sometimes take a bit a time especially if your using low weights to re-allign the weights into the handle. I have never had a feeling of any safety concerns with these dumbbells. The weights are not balanced like real dumbbells on the odd weights (15, 25, 35, 45) but I have not found that to be to much of a hinderance. I would recommend a 5 lb dumbbell set to go with these as well. These weights are very sturdy and should last a long time. Overall these are a very good adjustable dumbell set and it will suite your P90X training well. For women I would recommend the 0-25 set in lieu of the 10-50.
