I am using this table in our family game room. I was hesitant because the base of the table appeared more contemporary than other furniture in the room. When you get chairs around the table the base is not even noticeable. So ignore the base but look at the detail of this table top. I leave the flat top on when we aren't using the games on the table. It's a beautiful piece to have dinner and entertain on. The gaming or poker side has just what I wanted on it. Seats six people in rolling chairs very comfortably. Handsome, functional, and very reasonable for the look. I would buy this again.
We weren't sure if purchasing the game table would be a good idea or not. It turns out it was a great idea--it's excellent to have a place to play board games like Settlers of Catan, or play poker with or without chips. There is plenty of room for the game pieces, as well as elbows on the table. It's a decent sized table, so nobody is cramped, but not so big we are too far apart. It's great to have a place to convene and play, and if we get interrupted or the game is long--we can safely and neatly leave everything out without dogs running through it or kids rough housing and scattering everything. Having a designated place to play has increased the fun of playing games as well. Game players are not in anyone's way. It's easy to play a game and watch TV in the same room, we hung a light above the game table in case lights are turned off for TV watching. The table is a little shaky, we probably need to tighten the legs, but the intrinsic value of it far surpasses it. It's 3.5-4 starts in quality, but 5 stars in value. Great gift. Excellent for family time.
