this protective gear was given to my grandson and has proven to cut down on injuries.
Decent for light-duty wear
Not good for derby or skating, as the plastic protection panels don't skid at all on smooth surfaces when you fall or go down. This causes you to roll forward, and can hurt more if you're not expecting it. The panels also aren't attached very securely to the pads, after two falls one of the rivets disconnected already, after just a few minutes of wear (and it was a light and straight fall, not hard or at an odd angle).
These worked great
I purchased the butt pads after I fell snowboarding and bruised my tailbone. Figured I needed some protection while I learned to balance on that dreaded plank. The pads worked great! I took a few tumbles and it absorbed the shock quite well. I also was hit by the edge of the ski lift chair and the butt pad took the brunt. I went home injury and bruise free! They were also very comfortable to wear under my pants and allowed me to move freely. I am a female and I wear a size 8, so I purchased a size Medium. I wish I had gotten them in a Small as there was plenty of swimming room.
