These steps were purchased due to me not being able to get in and out of our above ground pool easily. I was slightly worried when I placed the order that maybe I should have gone somewhere local to buy then, but these are just great. The steps are easy to put together and makes it so much easier on me getting in and out. The rails give you extra security to know that you most likely (unless not paying attention or slip that can't be avoided) will not fall which was my biggest concern. They do have to be weighted down with sand, but that was just a quick run to the hardware store and we were up and running.
Sturdy steps, well built, perfect assembly directions. Long shafted (necessity) screwdriver and extra screws provided. Mat provides ample pool liner protection. Hand rail seems sufficient, will see how it hold up to kids. Either way replacement PVC pipe is easily obtainable.. The only other item that would make it perfect is a wedge interface between the flat bottom of the step structure and the slanted decline of the pool bottom from the side of the pool to the center of the pool. If you have a perfectly flat pool base the steps will sit level and all is fine. If your pool was designed to be lower in the middle (to provide more depth) the a wedge is necessary to keep the steps level. I used masonry block, and am not too concerned because the mat should protect the pool liner. But would be a MORE satisfied customer if there was some type of hard rubber wide wedge that could be placed under the steps.
I purchased these steps to replace the standard ladder for our pool. NONE of the pieces are numbered. It took about 4 hours to put them together. Once ready to install you will need a person in the pool to help set the steps in place. There is no pad or liner protector included. I purchased this just as a precaution and to protect the pool liner. I wished the gate swung open further. It tends to close on you while climbing up and down the stairs. Overall, they are sturdy and serve the purpose.
