This tripod is a little on the heavy side. The controls to extend the legs takes a bit of effort. And there are "O rings" that a between the joints or section of the legs, to keep them from hitting together when closed. One of those "O ring" were missing, bet I didn't feel it would be worth the effort to exchange the tripod or get a replacement "O ring". But it is built well and should last many years with a little help and to keep it clean.
I have purchaced the Barska for myself and more than a dozen photographers I work with. We use it for volume portrait photography. The simi-fluid head works great if you add a Bogen flip bracket for vertical/horizontal work. The handle kind of gets in my way so I remove it. The final result is a super quick to adjust head that stays where you put it.
Without a doubt, this is a professional tripod. Quite heavy, though it does come in a sturdy, ballistic nylon carry bag. My only complaint is that it smells funny! Odd, I know, but it has a strong metallic smell. I had to move it from my office because it bothered me so much.
