We bought these to take hiking last summer. Before we had borrowed our son's more expensive hydration packs, but I wanted to get our own. These packs not only look like the more expensive brand, but they worked the same. The mouth piece was durable and when I wanted water, it was there.
Not a Camelback, but much less expensive. It's good for short 3-6 hour hikes, maybe even longer hikes depending on the amount of stuff you need to take with you. For a 12 hour Yosemite, Half-dome day hike, I found it a little small. Besides, you really need more water then 2L for Half-Dome. However, for shorter hikes, I do believe that it was great hydration pack for the price. Just make sure you tighten the tube to the water bag. (They use a screw on tube connector... Camel back is just push on... I didn't realize this till after my first short hike with this bag.) Oh, the water bladder did make it up with my to Half-dome, along with another 2L bladder and a larger bag.
I was actually very surprised when I received this bag, I expected it to have very little pocket space and be pretty much just a hydration bag, but it actually has a good amount of storage space and many more Pockets than I would have expected. Also this backpack is very comfortable, I'm six foot three with broad shoulders and a lot of smaller backpacks just don't feel right on me. But I can easily wear this bag all day long. Another thing I was pretty shocked about when I got my bag was how durable the water bladder is, for such a low price I expected a cheap, thin bladder but I got the opposite. If you are looking to buy a bag like this then I feel very confident in saying you won't be disappointed if you purchase this one. I was very skeptical at first, but now I could not be more happy with my purchase of this backpack. Happy Camping! (or Hiking)
