Last November I was on Kodiak island hunting Sitka Blacktails. I took my Ruger M77 in 30.06 with a VX3 4.5x14x40. After going in probably further than I should have I had spotted a buck I wanted to go after. I was able to drop the buck with a quick 50 yard shot and had it quartered and in my pack in pretty short order. With pack cinched and rifle on my shoulder I took a couple steps and my right foot found a hidden depression. My ankle folded with an audible pop and down I went landing hard on the rifle. I wouldn't find out for quite a while but I had cracked the joint, partially tore my Achilles and completely detached a ligament. The easiest path to the pick up point was almost 4 miles away. Over the next few hours, I hobbled my way out and in doing so, fell quite a few times where my rifle got bounced off the ground, rocks, etc. Once during a stream crossing, my ankle gave way and my rifle got completely submerged. Somewhere along the line, I got a pretty good ding in one of the turret caps too. Long story short, after I got home, I thoroughly cleaned the rifle and for heck of it, I fired 3 shots at 100 yds and got a 3/4" group 2 inches high of center, just like it was when I left for Alaska. I doubt if too many scopes out there could take that amount of beating and hold zero.
I could not be more satisfied with this gun cabinet. It is exactly as described. I did wipe it down with a soft rag and a little Pledge furniture polish to remove a few scuffmarks that occurred during the shipping. It looks great it is perfect and it fulfills my needs since I did not want a three hundred and fifty pound safe.
I bought this scope a year ago. I'm very happy with this scope I now have five of this very same model. They draw in so much light you could practically hunt by moonlight. 3.5-10-50 still has low enough power to hunt in brush with having a great field of view.
i purchased a Leupold VX 3 approxoimately 25 years ago. A 3.5-10x 40 mm. I mounted it on a Remington 700 in 300 Weatherby Magnum. i have harvested several deer and a spike bull elk. when i fell on the rifle and scope on a slippery slope, the scope was fine. i harvested 2 more deer at 150 yards before I reaized the base mounting screws were busted. I have purchaseda new VX 3i in 3.5-10 to mount on the Remington. i will mount the VX3 on my Model 70 after i recieve it back from having Leupold check it out. I only want to purchase Leupold scopes.
