I had two of these for a while and have fished with a couple of more. They are perfectly acceptable reels for most of what I would want them for. They are certainly one the best looking reels out there and they do come in a left hand version. Something that the Shimano's do not. Probably really 3.5 stars for me. I mainly use this type of reel for either salmon or stripers. The thing that keeps me from rating it higher was I was not totally impressed by it's drag. I feel the Diawa Sealine is a better reel for a lower price. The Shimano Tekota is a much better reel for not a huge amount more money. One thing I hate is that the clicker is too loud and is loud even when it is not engaged.
I have been using the Abu Garcia Line of reels mainly the 7000 series for many more years than I would like to admit haha. These reels never fail. I use for monster catfish and have several times in the ocean. The are sealed units on the inside so you never have to worry about sand or grit eating away at it. They recommend using like up to 25lb test on them but I use 40lb mono and it cast effortlessly. Very happy with this purchase.
