Purchased in Feb. 2010 for use as a 3-season sleeping bag. Used two nights in 60 deg. F house. Too warm while zipped. Perfect for unzipped use. Used on March 20, 2010, during a low 40 deg. F nighttime backpacking trip in NY state. While wearing sweat pants, tee-shirt, sweat shirt and socks, I was mostly comfortably but just a little cool. Therefore, I will not use this sleeping bag for lower than 40 deg. F nights which is fine for my intended use. As the literature states in the sleeping bag box, the 20-deg F rating is a survival rating which means to me being heavily clothed while using it at this rated low temperature. This was my first mummy sleeping bag. I am a 5' 6", 140 pound male, and felt a little claustrophobic in the bag. But I wanted a compact and light weight bag, so I will get use to the tight quarters in the mummy bag. For someone much bigger, I recommend rethinking whether or not you want a mummy sleeping bag. The bag dimensions on the label is 84" long, 32" wide at chest, and 20" at feet. From what I have seen for mummy bags, this is rather typical. Although, when I measured the bag, it was 2" smaller for each of these 3 dimensions. I wanted a nylon inner & outer shell bag. This sleeping bag was advertised as such on the OverStock.com site. However, when I received it, it had a polyester inner and outer shell. I like nylon because I expect it to wear better than polyester and it doesn't smell as bad with any contact to perspiration. Since most light weight bags that I investigate are polyester shells, I assume that there must be other advantages that I am unaware of. The bag comes with a nice compression sack which measures 8" diameter and 14" long with the bag in it. This is a nice compact size. The bag compresses rather easily in this sack. As for weight, the bag and compression sack weighs approximately 3.5 pounds per my bathroom scale with a fill weight of 1.5 pounds per the label. I was looking for a bag under 3 pounds but it is rather light compared to my other two sleeping bags (i.e. 5 & 8 pounds). Overall this bag meets my expectation. I am looking forward to many years of use with this bag. Good luck to you in your purchase.

This was purchased primarily for my boy scout and I on troop campouts. Highly recommended as the best balance between size/weight and price that can easily be packed in standard frame backpacks. Don't spend the extra $150+ on high-end down backpacks that may be slightly smaller to pack. Shell is high-quality lightweight nylon. Slept very comfortably on campout that was <40F.

This sleeping bag kept me quite warm and is oh-so-light! I am a backpacker and really appreciate lightweight gear. This thing compresses to nearly nothing so that it fits easily in a 65L pack (and probably a 55L pack), and, it bears repeating, weighs next-to-nothing.Probably wouldn't keep one warm at 20 degrees F unless you were bundled up in a few layers of clothing, but no sleeping bag I've ever come across has ever met the stated temperature rating, so this really isn't an issue. I slept in long underwear (my usual camping sleeping attire) in 40 degree temperatures in this bag and belt perfectly cozy.Workmanship seems up-to-snuff and it seems it will last for some time with average use. As an FYI, I backpack/camp 1-2x/month and I have no doubt this bag will last a few seasons.

Let me first say that this is not a bad bag. It is light, generously cut, compresses easily into something like 7x14 sack, the compression sack is nice and useful. A comparable big name bag is 20 degree north face cat's meow which has about the same weight. This bag costs about 1/4 of the price, and you might think you are getting a great deal, but you would be wrong. The temperature rating on most bags is roughly the lowest comfort zone (for men), for this bag 20 degrees refers strictly to the survival rating. To put it into perspective, the survival rating for the northface 20 degree bag would be something well bellow 0. There are two things to take away from this. First, you should be very care using this bag in cold weather (particularly if you are a woman). Second point is that you are not getting the deal of the lifetime. This seems to be roughly 40 degree comfort rating bag, if you shop around you can find a better brand 40 or 35 degree sleeping bag for extra 20 dollars. If you do need good cheap 20 degree sleeping bag, I would recommend Kelty Cosmic down 20, I found large one for about 80 dollars and I couldn't be happier with it.

  • Good, but not as compressible as I expected

This sleeping bag is comparable to the cheaper lines of name-brand sleeping bags I've purchased in the past. It worked fine for an overnight camping trip where the low temperature was about 55 degrees. The only thing I was disappointed about was the size of the bag in the compression sack. The product description only mentioned a T8 compression sack, but reviews had led me to believe that it would be smaller than the usual 7" diameter and 14" length. It wasn't. The +20 degree temperature rating is a survival rating, not a comfort rating. I'm still not 100% sure I made the right decision in getting the +20 degree instead of the 0 degree sleeping bag.

As far as the 20 degree rating goes, the tags on the bag warn that 20 degrees is a survival rating for people accustomed to ultralight camping and properly layered. I just wanted a light bag for occasional casual use, sometimes even indoors. This looks perfect and it's a great price. It's very light and compact. It comes with an incredible compression bag to cinch it up into a really small unit. I would rather have a light bag where you need to add layers if it's really cold, than to be sweltering when it's warm. I am a small person (5' 2" and 120#) and there is lots of extra room in this bag. I kind of like that because I do not like to feel totally constricted, but I imagine it would keep me warmer in cold weather if it were snugger on me. Not an issue for my intended use.

I purchased this sleeping bag for an overnight camping trip, and it was amazing! So small and compact, and yet it kept me warm and dry! Temps ranged from 40 - 50 degrees at night. If you are sleeping in colder weather, just layer your sleepwear and this baby will keep you snug and warm! I LOVED it!

Fits very easily into the collapsible bag, and is a perfect size/weight for backpacking. I want to point out that I've used this sleeping bag in 30 degree weather and needed some base layers to keep even mildly warm. I would definitely caution against using this in anything colder than 30-40 degrees.

These bags were comfortable! My husband and I both got one. He is 6'3" 195 and fit well though he is unable to "curl up" at all in in as far as curling up within the bag to draw legs into same air space. I, on the other hand, could curl up into same air space if I wanted at 5'6" 134. We slept in a hammock without a pad. On the first night with temps into mid 30's and wind, I FROZE (well, my feet froze. my body was ok). I'm sure this is a combo of the hammock angling up at feet so blood drains, feet in small air space, and no pad. But still, on it's own, this bag is not enough at that temp. The 2nd night, I stuck the feet into my backpack lined with a backpack rain cover and an extra tshirt. It was much better. Overall, great bag. Just get a liner or pad or something if using it below about 40-45.

I used this sleeping bag while camping in Peru. The temperature dropped below freezing (made apparent by the frozen rain on top of our tents) and the sleeping bag kept me warm. However, the next morning I had feathers on me - not many but quite a few. Also, I was fighting with the zipper everytime I needed to come out of the sleeping bag. I purposely left the sleeping bag in Peru. If I go camping again I will buy a different brand.
