I have used it with my home schooling for science. My Grandson it really liking the experiments that we've been doing and your volcano has been a great teaching tool as how volcano's work and the cross section of it shows what the inside of a volcano is like. It's better than any picture in a book.

This is also a great visual aid for any elementary classroom. The kids can see the writing on the globe so easy with the light inside. A wonderful tool for in the classroom! I wish I would have had these things when my kids were in Elementary School.

    • Great for cooperative learning

We used this in groups of 5 in my 4th grade class. Each student was able to create a machine with help from the group. After creating the machine, they used the activity cards- reading and answering the questions for that machine. I went around and checked their answers and then they moved on to the next machine. This is a great tool for understanding simple machines, student led learning, and cooperative learning. I would also recommend the activity cards that go with it.

    • Great Product, but...

I have used this product in my classroom for the past two week and I absolutely love it. The only issue that I have is that the plastic bolts are very easily broken. Not a huge deal because I will just go to the hardware store to pick up some metal bolts, but I feel that these need to be a bit stronger. Thank You!

    • Expensive for Quality

The solar system colors and sizes looked great. When we tried to inflate most of the smaller shapes were oval or lopsided. The smaller ones were also really hard to inflate because the nozzle didn't have an air trap so they would start to deflate as soon as you were done inflating. We ended up finding the same thing much cheaper and should have gone with the cheaper version of the same thing.

Great graphics and no words - this way the child who can read does not have an unfair advantage over his sibling who cannot read...yet. They have to learn and remember the names of places..

Learning Resources sent me over their Primary Science Sensory Tubes to review on my blog and these are so much fun! I know so many teachers are always on the lookout for great science manipulatives because usually that is one of the first subjects that takes a backseat to Reading and Math. Using these, students are able to really use the Scientific Method to check some things out!

    • Kids First Science Magnet Kit
      Reviewed at

My boys (4 and 5) are curious about everything. Now that my one is in Kindergarten he is starting to learn more about all sorts of subjects, science especially. Magnets are something that always amazed me so I admit I was just as excited to check out the Primary Science Magnet Set from Learning Resources, as my boys were! This kit includes 14 pieces including 10 double-sided activity cards. The activity cards are both easy and challenging and some require some household objects such as water or paperclips. The set though was fun on its own for us. My boys were amazed at how the magnets would stick together one way and not the other way. I started teaching them about polar opposites, magnetism and science in general. The pieces that this kit comes with are ones that I would have never thought of using together. There is a big horsehoe magnet perfect to work little magnetic ladybugs through a maze. Ring magnets and a magnetic post are fun because you can make the magnetics float on the pole. My sons favorite though is the Snap-on Cars. You can push the cars together and watch them spin away from one another or magnetically snap them together to zoom around. This is a simple kit but fun and perfect for young learners.
