Instructions were hard to follow - not very clear. The screws for the roof support should have been flat. We had to drill wider holes to make the screws go below surface so roof support would be flush with top floor.
A beautiful well designed set that is not for the faint of fingers. Plan to spend time enjoying the detail and you will be rewarded. If you expect a simplistic kit that you glue together in an afternoon, this isn't it. This is the real thing and the top of the line.
When finished, this house looks awesome, but getting there is no easy task and definitely not for a first timer. I agree with lots of other people that the pictures and instructions are not nearly complete. I've made several dollhouses before so I could figure out what pieces go where. Some of the plywood pieces need a lot of sanding and glueing before they can be used. This unit, finished, is larger than expected also, but that was my mistake. Lots of room inside for kids to play but the top of the stairs are very fragile and could easily break with little fingers. I will not be making this house again.
The wood leaves a lot to be desired. I recommend buying some filler as the plywood is not the best I have seen. The kit goes together fairly easy, but take your time on it. This is not something you can throw together in a weekend. The instructions a pretty straight forward, and easy to follow. I would have given this a much higher rating is not for the wood issues. Some pieces of the wood came warped, and some of the more fragile pieces (Shingles and clapboard) where just thrown in the box, leaving them to be damaged.
