I remembered using this in grade school and loving it. So, I had to buy it for my 5 year old grandson. When he opened it up he asked, "What is this?" I cracked up. When I told him this is what I used in school as a kid and sat down with him and "played" with it with him, he really enjoyed it and started catching on right away!
I was having trouble teaching my 2 1/2 year old son to recognize numbers versus letters and to count. Within a day of using this puzzle to teach these skills, things finally clicked for him, and he was able to identify the numbers 0, 1, 2 and 3, plus tell me that zero meant "all gone"!! Now, I know that this puzzle alone didn't teach him all that on its own; but after struggling for months to teach him to recognize numbers, it was such a joy (and relief!) when he was able to do so without my prompting while playing with this puzzle.
We purchased this puzzle for my son and he loved it! My daughter now plays with it and she enjoys it as well! Great puzzle and it has lasted several years! :)
