  • Doesn't work in all circumstance
    Verified Purchase

For this to be sturdy you need to be able to have enough room to stake it out and have soil that accepts the stakes securely. Extremely dry ground or rocky ground is going to make it problematic to do this. Pain in the rear to put up alone. Easiest with 3 people. One to hold each pole, one to stake everything. Doable with less unless, but harder and more time consuming. Way harder with less if it is windy. An improvement over just trying to use a basic blue tarp. Way cheaper than one of those free standing things, and, of course, lighter.

This has been a very useful item. I bought it two years ago to use on a canoeing trip. I wanted a very lightweight but sturdy tarp. The poles are very heavy so we did not take them on that trip. The tarp alone packs up very light and tight. We set it up at our campsite using paddles and tree branches and it saved us all (party of 8) from a good drenching. Good times! More recently: We are working on a constuction project in our back yard. The heat was making it really impossible to work during the day. I set up this sun shade and it helps tremedously. The heavy duty poles (I like the shock cord feature) make a very sturdy set up. It is very quick to set up and to move as needed. Here in New Mexico we get some pretty stiff winds along with out blazing sun. The set up has stood up well to those too. The other reviewer that said this wouldn't stay up must have set it up incorrectly.

This two pole sunshade from Coleman is excellent quality. We take it along for long distance motorcycle touring. The tent poles are also good quality and also very sturdy. Great Price too! Easy for two people to put up. Holds up well even in the wind. The fabric is very durable.

  • Great sized camping tarp
    Verified Purchase

After camping with the commercial woven tarps I decided to buy a tarp made for camping. This one is just the right size to fit over the picnic table with some room to spare all around. We camped in Maine in the woods with plenty of trees to tie it too and were very pleased at how easy it was to put up and store when done. Nice job.

it was great,i was in galveston and it began to rain.the wind was so strong it tore my tent , so I put it over the tent and it kept the rain off of us. It never moved or tore in that crazy wind. It is awesome and I am actually going to order another one to have as a spare.

  • Keep Dry
    Verified Purchase

4 days of primative camping used this for our kitchen shelter. On our 4 th day it rained and with over $700 worth of tents and shelters, everyone sat under this one to keep dry. One of the best camping items I own by far.
