This pad is great and a 'second bed' with sleeping bag, when visiting distant places on overnight casual activist/protest assemblies. It could work outside, I guess. I have not had the opportunity to test it on the ground. I was unhappy with the ease of puncture of the self inflating 'bubble' nature of its design. (The dual valve closure and the self inflating design is top quality.) If the bed lost the integrity due air containment the air mattress inner foam pad failed to hold the user's weight off hardwood floors. Zero sleeping comfort. I had to search for glue on patches. The usual patch kits were too small for my large blunder-tear. Eventually, I found patching ‘glue-on’ that sufficed. Now I am pleased but the rip stop toughness of the outer air mattress bubble failed to elicit 5 star rating from my perspective.
The price was right for this item. And our guest spent only one night on it. I kept it up for a few more days to see how it was holding air. Seemed to hold decently, perhaps lost some. But I'm not bothered by that, with the built in air pump conveniently right at the end of the bed. It is very tall. So, my main concern is how to find sheets and bedding to fit this, and look nice at the same time. if anyone has purchased bedding for this that is working out well, I'd like to know about it. I did submit a question regarding bedding on this item. Overall, for the occasional overnight guest, I think this will do fine. And it didn't cost a fortune. Delivered quickly.
For the price this bag is OK. It's for mild temps, the flap that opens for warmer climate is a little awkward to operate, techniques come into play, the bedding itself seems adequate, but it feels a little loose.
