I like this chair a lot and bought it to replace my old weather rotten reclining chairs that lasted me a good 20 years or so. The problem I see is that Kamprite's website listed this chair for up to 300 pounds but the label attached to the chair itself says it can only hold a maximum of 225 pounds. So either they have placed incorrect information on their website or the attached label from the manufacturer is incorrect. Lastly the right footrest pole is not attached to the plastic insert that connects to the front right bottom corner, this keeps falling off, if only half way off, and this causes the plastic insert to bend. I think I will have to modify it to permanently attach it into the pole instead. Any suggestions from kamprite about these two issues would be appreciated, otherwise I would definitely be giving this chair a full five stars and nothing but praise.
I love this chair! I was looking for a chair with more stability than the little camping chairs we have used, and this one delivers that and more. It's so comfortable that it has quickly become my favorite chair when camping or going to picnics, or anywhere I need to have an extra chair. I only gave it four stars because of the weight, when you have to carry it a ways it gets heavy, but that's a good trade for the comfort and stability, so I don't really mind and sometimes I can con someone else into carrying it for me. Plus the carry strap really helps with that. This chair is very well designed with lots of pockets on the side to slipping your crossword book, your phone, or any of the other 'stuff" that kids typically hand their Moms saying "can you hold this for me?" - just stick it in the pocket and it won't get lost. My husband had bought a similar one (different manufacturer) and he likes mine better. I don't care for the patter all that much but have found that it's very easy to tell my chair from everyone else's. so it is actually a plus.
setup was quick and easy using an existing stand i had. the hammock stretches quite a bit as one should expect. i cannot figure out how 2 full sized adults can use it though. one adult gets swallowed by the hammock as the top closes around you like a sleeping bag. it would be fine for sleeping outside at night, as it should keep you pretty bug-free. i worry about durability, the nylon "para silk" seems thin and i am very surprised they didnt use a rip-stop version. forcing 2 people in there would seem to stretch the material to the point that a rip or tear could happen very easily. lastly, it wasnt even boxed, just arrived with a label on the small cigar sized manufacturer's package. it is an open style box and the hammock material was stuck with packing tap. overall a 3 of 5
The stitching doesn't appear very strong. Another reviewer who gave it 5 stars called it durable though. I have not yet tested it because, well not to appear to be the simpleton among perhaps more rugged, experienced out-doorsey types, but this thing comes wth no instructions and nothing to connect the eye hooks to. Judging by yet another 5 star reviewer, this was to be expected maybe. The item description calls it "easy to hang up." Hang it up to what though??? It doesn't come with ropes to loop around the trees to hook it on to. I'm not real happy with this purchase 1st of all because it JUST doesn't look all that strong. It looks like it's going to rip. I could be wrong, I'll find out. That's one reason why I went smack down the middle with 3 stars to give benefit to the doubt of which I have concerns. So, now I have to track down some rope I guess. loop those pieces around the two trees I've selected then hook it up. Seriously I think the least the manufacturer could do is include a couple pieces of rope to do what I just mentioned. Does EVERYBODY have rope handy except me? As well as something sturdy to cut the rope with? I don't like this. I don't appreciate that, I had the impression from reading the item description that everything needed was in the box, ready to rock and roll then take a break and lay down on the finished product. Right now, instead of hanging between two trees the thing is in my shed in the back yard. Hence the 1 star I was tempted to give. I can't speak for durability. I HOPE it's durable. I don't LIKE spending money just for the heck of it then not use what I bought. I'll see if I can't edit this review at some future point in time.
